"We were saddened to hear the news about this passenger," said Marc Magliari, a Chicago-based spokesman for Amtrak. "Our hearts go out to the family."

Magliari said the incident remains under investigation. He said he had not seen police reports and declined to discuss specifics of the incident.

Michigan State University police are investigating the death in concert with Amtrak, Canadian National Railway and the Federal Railroad Administration, MSU police Capt. Doug Monette said.

There were no signs of foul play, and the death appears to have been accidental, he said. An autopsy was done on April 11, and it could be weeks before the results are known, he said.

Watrous worked for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe as a financial officer, according to her obituary.

"Sue was beloved by many, and famous for her cinnamon rolls and cupcakes. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends," read a line in her obituary.

A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Visitation is set for 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at W.L. Case & Company Funeral home in Saginaw.
