LANSING -- The man who tried to attack Larry Nassar in an Eaton County courtroom won't face any criminal charges, the Eaton County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

Randall Margraves speaks during a press conference on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at the Grewal Law office in Okemos. Margraves attempted to attack Larry Nassar after his daughters gave victim impact statements today during Nassar's sentencing hearing in Eaton County.

Randall Margraves, of Bath Township, is the father of three daughters who said they were sexually assaulted by Nassar.

On Feb. 2, Margraves tried to attack Nassar in Judge Janice Cunningham's courtroom during Nassar's sentencing hearing.

"I gave considerable weight to the wishes of the three potential victims of Mr. Margraves’ impulsive act – attorneys Matthew Newburg and Molly Blythe as well as Lawrence Nassar," Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd said in a statement released Monday. "All three advised the Sheriff’s Department that they did not want charges issued.

"I also gave weight to Judge Janice Cunningham’s contempt of court proceedings and her decision to not impose punishment against Mr. Margraves beyond the hours he was detained awaiting his contempt hearing."

Nassar, 54, formerly of Holt, was sentenced in Eaton County Circuit Court in Charlotte to 40 to 125 years in prison on three sexual assault charges.

He was also sentenced to 40 to 175 years on seven sexual assault charges in Ingham County, and, in December, to 60 years in prison on federal child pornography charges.

Nassar was the former team doctor for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University. More than 260 women and girls have made sexual assault claims against him.
