LANSING - Lansing is about to get a new steakhouse.

Bowdies Chophouse, which started in Saugatuck three years ago, will open Thursday in the East Michigan Avenue building that once housed the Knight Cap.

Bowdies Chophouse will open Nov. 16 at 320 E. Michigan Ave.

"We're excited about coming here and serving the best food and best quality food possible, great drinks, great wine and seeing people come in and have fun," general manager Tyler Bowdish said.

The family-owned business will be operated by Bowdish and chef Jason Campbell.

The steakhouse will be open seven days a week for dinner only.

The menu will include different steaks, including the Tomahawk, which is a 36-ounce, bone-in ribeye for two; a bone-in filet; the Kansas City, a bone-in New York Strip; a filet mignon; and a 26-ounce ribeye.

"We are going to do a couple different local beers because we have a different tap system here," Bowdish said. "Our wine list is going to be pretty much the same and continually growing until we get up to the size of our wine list in Saugatuck."

There also will be a couple of cocktails specific to the Lansing area.

There will be four dessert offerings: carrot cake, beignets, a special brownie and a bread pudding with Belgian chocolate, Traverse City cherries and a bourbon caramel over the top.

Reservations are recommended — online, over the phone or on the OpenTable app. Bar reservations can be made as well, over the phone only.

"I am really excited to see the Silver Bells festival and be open for that day," Bowdish said. "That was something we were really shooting for."
