This year, Veterans Day falls the day after the 241st anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps. Here is a list of several Veterans Day celebrations taking place in the Lansing area.

East Lansing Veterans Day program, 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10. Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing. There will be a military flag-raising ceremony with a bugle call and bagpipes. There will also be a moment of silence observed for U.S. Marine Corps Reserve 2nd Lt. Sherrod E. Skinner, Jr., from East Lansing, who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for bravery exhibited during the Korean War. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Honoring Veterans, 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 10. Grandhaven Living Center, 3145 W. Mt. Hope St., Lansing. Heartland Hospice will be recognizing veterans who are patients and residents at Grandhaven Living Center with a pinning ceremony. Veterans will receive a commemorative pin and certificate. Free Breakfast for Veterans, 7-10:30 a.m. Nov. 11. Big Boy, 660 N. Cedar St., Mason. Any veteran can stop by and enjoy a trip to the breakfast buffet. Info: 676-4401.

Veterans Day celebration, 8:10 a.m. Nov. 11. Island City Academy, 6421 S. Clinton Trail, Eaton Rapids. Doors open at 7:55 a.m. Veterans will be welcomed by the student and staff body, then escorted to the gym where students will perform for them. After the performance, veterans will be served a home made breakfast provided by the staff.

Veterans Day Ceremony, 11:11 a.m. Nov. 11. Ingham County Courthouse, 148 E. Ash St., Mason.

Veterans Day Ceremony, noon Nov. 11. Lansing Community College Health and Human Services Building, Fred Abood Rotunda, Lansing. LCC will induct four veterans into the LCC memorial. Free and open to the public.

Ingham County Veterans Day Parade, 3 p.m. Nov. 11. Mason First Church of the Nazarene, 415 E. Maple St., Mason. Staging will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the church. The parade will step off at 3 p.m., proceeding east to Steele Street, south to Ash Street and west to Jefferson Street, past the courthouse, then east on Maple Street returning to the parade start. Participants should register upon arrival at the staging area. Rides will be provided for those not wishing to walk. An open house will be held at the VFW Post 7309, 1243 Hull Road, Mason, immediately following the parade. Veterans Day dinner, 6 p.m. Nov. 11. Knights of Columbus, 5300 N. Grand River Ave., Lansing. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. All veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Info: 321-2209. Free.

Veterans Day open house and video game night, 3-7 p.m. Nov. 11. VFW Post 4113, 2497 Old U.S. 27, St. Johns. Games, food, trivia and raffle. There will be game tournaments and free play. Free to play, entry fee for tournaments.

Veterans Day Steak Fry, 6 p.m. Nov. 11. American Legion Leslie Post 491, 422 Woodworth St., Leslie. Veterans eat free with proper verification. Live music following dinner. Info: 589-9122, americanlegionpost491mi.com. Cost: $12, free for veterans.
