LANSING - A flood watch is in effect through Friday evening in the Lansing region.

Heavy rain fell in some areas, including southern Ingham County, on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, saturating the ground, the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said.

If more heavy rain falls in those same areas on Thursday night, "that could create some issues," metereologist Nathan Jeruzal said.

A flood advisory has been issued for Sycamore Creek at Holt.

Less than 0.20 inches of rain had been recorded at Capital Region International Airport in DeWitt Township through 11 a.m. Thursday, but some areas in southern Ingham County received 1.5 to 2 inches, the weather service said.

Rain is likely every day through Sunday in the Lansing area, with a 70 percent chance on Thursday night and a 60 percent chance on Friday and Saturday, the weather service said. But the heavier bands are expected to subside by Friday evening, Jeruzal said.

The weather service has issued a flood advisory for Sycamore Creek at Holt. The creek is expected to overflow its banks after midnight Thursday, causing minor flooding in the area.
