LANSING – - There is a chance that severe thunderstorms will hit Lansing and much of the rest of southeast Michigan this afternoon, a possibility that milder storms on the west side of the state will meet a cold front and produce high winds and even hail.

"It's pretty much all of lower Michigan," said T.J. Turnage, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, "maybe a slightly greater risk as you go east and north."

The threat, he said, will continue until this evening.
