Lansing area Memorial Day parades, services

Charlotte Memorial Day Parade, 11 a.m. 1885 Eaton County Courthouse, 100 W. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte. The parade will begin at the 1885 Courthouse and will march south down Cochran Avenue. The parade will end at Seminary Street. Following the parade, there will be a veterans ceremony at the courthouse.

Dansville Memorial Day Celebration. Downtown, Dansville. Parade registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Dansville High School parking lot, steps off at noon and marches through downtown. There will be a chicken and rib BBQ on the town square in front of the Wooden Nickel from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Witt?s End Entertainment will hold karaoke from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

DeWitt Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m. DeWitt Memorial Building, 206 W. Washington St., DeWitt.

Eaton Rapids Memorial Day Parade, 11 a.m. Eaton Rapids. The parade route is from Marilin Street to Knight Street. A brief ceremony will be held on G.A.R. Island Park after the parade.

Fowlerville Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m. Greenwood Cemetery, 4350 Cemetery Road, Fowlerville. Parade will end at Greenwood Cemetery with a ceremony. After the ceremony, spectators are invited to head over to Fowlerville Community Park for an event featuring a Blackhawk helicopter, DJ and food vendors. In the event of inclement weather, ceremony will be moved to Fowlerville High School Auditorium.

Holt Memorial Day Parade, 2 p.m. Downtown Holt. Parade will step off at 4025 Holt Road and travel west, taking a right on Aurelius Road until the Delhi Township offices, where there will be a dedication to fallen veterans at the Veterans Memorial Gardens.

Mason Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, 8 a.m. Courthouse Square, Maple Street, Mason. A wreath will be placed at the memorial at the corner of Ash and Jefferson Streets. Parade steps off at Bond Park at 9 a.m. and will travel to Ash Street, west to Jefferson Street, north to Maple Street, west to State Street, northwest to Columbia Street with a pause at the bridge for Navy services. The parade will then travel east on Columbia and end with services at Maple Grove Cemetery.

St. Johns Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m. Downtown St. Johns. Parade will end at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Followed by the traditional ceremony.

Haslett Memorial Day Service, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Ralya Elementary School, World War II Memorial, 5645 School St., Haslett. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post #269, 1485 Haslett Road, Haslett. After the ceremony, burgers, brats, sides, and fixings will be offered free to veterans. Call the Post for more information. Info: 339-9018, www.haslettpost269.org. Cost: $6 burgers, $4 brats.

Meridian Township Memorial Day service, noon. Glendale Cemetery, 2500 Mt. Hope Road, Okemos. Pre-ceremony bagpipes, color guard with drum cadence, music by the Meridian Community Band, special guest speakers and hymns from various branches of the military. Info: 853-4000.

Nashville Memorial Day Parade, 11 a.m. VFW Post #8260, 304 S. State St., Nashville. Info: 852-9260.

Stockbridge Memorial Day Parade, 10:45 a.m. American Legion, 830 S. Clinton St., Stockbridge. The parade will march from the American Legion to Oaklawn Cemetery, where there will be a brief ceremony.

Webberville Memorial Day Parade and 5K, 9 a.m. Webberville High School, 309 E. Grand River Ave., Webberville. Parade will march from Webberville High School to the downtown memorial, where there will be a service. The service will be followed by a 5K Memorial Day Run, starting at about 10 a.m. Registration for the 5K begins at 9 a.m. at the elementary school.

Williamston Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m. McCormick Park, Putnam Street, Williamston. Parade begins on School Street at the Williamston Area Community Center and will end at McCormick Park, where there will be services.

Memorial Day Chicken BBQ, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale, Great Room, 162 N. Bridge St., Dimondale. Chicken BBQ, hamburgers and hot dogs. All meals come with chips, coleslaw, applesauce, dessert and beverage. Info: 646-6183, www.fpcdimondale.org. Cost: $7.50 for a half of a chicken, $6 for 1/4 of a chicken, $5 hamburgers and hot dogs.

Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast & Indoor Garage Sale. Dansville Community Center, 1317 Mason St., Dansville. Pancake breakfast will be held 9-11 a.m. and will consist of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, applesauce and beverages. Garage sale will run 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
