LANSING – The Lansing Art Gallery and Midtown Brewing Company will bring together great brews and fine art this fall with a new program for adults 21 and over.

The Lansing Art Gallery and Midtown Brewing Company will bring together great brews and fine art this fall with a new program for adults 21 and over.

Art & Ale will kick off Oct. 6 and run Tuesdays through Dec. 1 at Midtown Brewing Company in downtown Lansing.

Each class includes one Midtown Brewing Company beer and the chance to create a 12-inch by 12-inch canvas painting. Lansing Art Gallery Education Coordinator Megan Shoup will work with students to use brushes and paint on canvas. All art supplies and materials will be included.

The classes are designed with various levels of experience in mind, so those with no previous art experience are welcome.

Students will also have the chance to exhibit selected paintings created during the sessions at Lansing Art Gallery’s Student Art Gallery in 2016.

“We’re delighted to offer this opportunity for those who may be interested in learning, or learning more, about art,” said Lansing Art Gallery Executive Director Barb Whitney.

The Lansing Art Gallery is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and Whitney says Art & Ale is part of an ongoing effort to develop new relationships in the community and pilot unique programs.

The cost for each session is $25 for Lansing Art Gallery members and Midtown Brewing Company mug club members and $30 for others. Classes take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Midtown Brewing Company, 402 South Washington Square in Lansing.

Students may enroll via lansingartgallery.org/artandale, by calling Gallery Coordinator Sara Pulver at 374-6400 extension 3 or in person at the Lansing Art Gallery.
