LANSING – The Michigan Department of Transportation wants residents to vote on whether northbound U.S.-127 needs a noise barrier similar to to one in place along the southbound lanes of the highway.

MDOT will host an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the East Lansing Public Works Building, 1800 E. State St., to provide information about the proposed barrier along the highway between Grand River Avenue and Lake Lansing Road.

The wall was proposed following an analysis of highway noise after auxiliary lanes were added to the freeway, MDOT said in a noise release.
