Motorcyclist dies in Eaton County crash

ONEIDA TWP. – A motorcyclist died this morning after colliding with a car at the intersection of Hartel Road and St. Joseph Highway shortly before noon.

Investigators on the scene of a fatal car and motorcycle accident at Hartel Rd. and St. Joseph Highway south of Grand Ledge Tuesday.

The man died at the scene, said Sgt. Tom Campbell of the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office did not release his name or other identifying information, pending notification of his family.

Two of the three people in the car suffered minor injuries. One of them was taken to a local hospital, Campbell said.

Witnesses reported that the car was headed south on Hartel Road and turned east onto St. Joseph Highway, failing to yield to the motorcycle headed north on Hartel Road. The motorcycle struck the car on its passenger side.

Both sides of Hartel Road have reopened at St. Joseph Highway south of Grand Ledge.
