Thirteen displaced, one hospitalized in Lansing fire

LANSING – Thirteen people were displaced and a woman was hospitalized after an apartment fire in Lansing Thursday night, fire officials said.

The fire at Lansing Park Apartments in the 1400 block of East Kalamazoo Street occurred around 10:30 p.m. and was contained to two apartment units, Lansing firefighter David Odom said.

The woman who was hospitalized suffered minor smoke inhalation and has been treated and released, Odom said. The fire began in her kitchen, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined, he said.

The 13 displaced residents found shelter, but have not been cleared to return home, he said. He said it was unclear when they would be able to return to their apartments.
