Calling all aspiring filmmakers: It's time to craft a video showing why you love Lansing.

The Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau and Capital City Film Festival have teamed to kick off a new video contest that's all about your love for Lansing. The contest, called "The Love Letters to Lansing Video Contest," will give Lansing residents the chance to show their affection for the Lansing area by creating and submitting videos that show why it's so easy to fall in love with this region.

So, how can you impress the judges? Winning entries should "showcase residents' favorite attractions throughout the tri-county area (Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties) and demonstrate all of the ways the Lansing area is a great place to live, work and play," urges a release.

Cash prizes totaling $4,000 will go out to those who create the best videos to share.

"Lansing is full of passionate, energetic residents who take pride in where they live, and this contest is a perfect opportunity for those who just can't contain themselves to tell the world why Lansing is the place to be," said Tracy Padot, the vice president of marketing communications at the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Winning entries should "showcase residents' favorite attractions throughout the tri-county area (Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties) and demonstrate all of the ways the Lansing area is a great place to live, work and play."

"We love seeing Lansing residents show off their artistic sides," added Capital City Film Festival programming director Jason Gabriel. "The short videos are a fantastic way to demonstrate what it is that makes Lansing so great. Each Love Letters to Lansing video will give everyone, in three minutes or less, a taste of what it really means to '#LoveLansing', and we're excited to see all of the creative ways people will tell our region's story."

The deadline to enter is 12 p.m. March 16.

The contest entry fee is $10 per entry. Videos must be no longer than 3 minutes long. For more information and rules, visit the Capital City Film Festival's official website.

Entries will be accepted via email at info@capitalcityfilmfest.com or physically at the Lansing Public Media Center at 2500 S. Washington Ave. in Lansing.
